It's a 100% hand spun sheep wool and vegetable dyes have been used to make this carpet. The origin of this tribal rug is Herat it's a border town in the North West of  Afghanistan.
Few pile rugs come from Baluchistan which is situated mostly in Pakistan territory, where flat weaves mainly live. Early chronicles, place Baluch people further to the west, in Iran, south of the Caspian, and later in Kerman Province.
Baluchis who wove pile rugs during recent centuries lived primarily in western Afghanistan and across the Iranian border in Khorasan Province, the largest administrative sector in Northeastern Iran.
